| According to the estimation of the scientists, Kazakhstan ranks sixth in the world by reserves of natural resources. Out of 110 elements of the periodic table, 99 are discovered in Kazakhstani bowels, of which 70 are explored and 60 are extracted and used. Kazakhstan is one of the wealthiest countries in the world by reserves of oil, gas, titanium, magnesium, tin, uranium, gold, and other non-ferrous metals. |

| On global scale Kazakhstan already is the largest producer of tungsten, and ranks first for its reserves, ranks second for chrome and phosphoric ore reserves, ranks fourth for reserves of lead and molybdenum, and ranks eighth for iron ore reserves. Fourteen promising oil basins in Kazakhstan are known today, they are located practically across its whole territory. Only 160 oil and gas deposits are explored, and oil productive capacity amounts to 2.7 billion tons. Aggregate oil reserves in the north of the Caspian come to approximately 3-3.5 billion tons of oil and 2-2.5 trillion cubic meter of gas. Approximately 300 sizeable gold fields are projected in present-day Kazakhstan, 173 of them are explored in detail. At present, over 100 coal deposits are explored on the territory of the Republic; the largest ones are Ekibastuz deposit and Karaganda coal basin. |
